Chipped Rock Floor

Made this chipped rock floor in 3ds Max while following along with another Digital Tutor lesson. Very first time using Max and it seems pretty handy for blocking things out like this.

In progress blocking in Max:

Took my tiled block pattern into Z-brush and sculpted about half the blocks, then back into Max and duplicated the sculpted ones along the blocked out guidelines I made.

I generated all the maps in Max with Render to Texture, then made an additional grungy normal map in Knald based off a photo I took of fishsticks I made that burnt to a baking sheet:

Finally I brought the whole thing into UDK and combined the two normal maps for finer detail.

And the final result:

Retopo'd Gecko

Retopo'd the Gecko in 3D Coat and projected him in Z brush. I liked these colors when I got down to his toes. :D

Gecko Skin

Gecko all done and ready for retoppo-ing. Added some skin using one of the leather alpha brushes which looks great on his head, but not as good on his body. I'm thinking once he's textured it'll look a lot better.

Gecko In-Progress

Re-did my Gecko in adaptive skin rather than Dynamesh (except the head which is dynameshed). Still need to work on the head, and the feet are giving me serious issues.

Model a Week - Gecko

In-progress of my Z-brush leaftail gecko. Sculpting Dynamesh is kind of the most fun thing ever.

Model a Week - Tire

Was following along with some tutorials before I realized that my version of Z Brush doesn't have panel loops. Tried to fake it but uh... didn't go so well.

Z-Brush Treant

First time mucking about in Z-Brush. I found this neat picture of a Treant on the Interwebs (Apparently he's concept art for the game Rift), and tried to make an armature for him out of Z-Spheres.
