Hayloft

Quick test (without lightmaps) of my hayloft. Just wanted to see how the cracks in the wood looked.

Floating Tower

Midterm project. We had one week to model and texture a floating tower using modular pieces. All pieces snap together vert to vert.

This scene uses 14 unique models (including the flags)

Projected Couch

Here's the couch I made yesterday, in all its 131,060 tri glory:

Brought it from Max into Maya to make a low poly cage for it, down to 2737 tris, then projected the high-res one onto the low for the normal maps.

Here it is in UDK (I haven't textured the legs yet):

Finished Dinosaur

Dino is all  finished. Used procedural nodes to texture the eyes, teeth and gums, and added some spec. Here's the maps, a viewport screenshot and the final renders.

Dinosaur Day 2

Almost done with this guy. About 10 more tutorial videos to go. I'm done with the body bump map, still need to do the mouth and claws. And his eyes obviously.

Jail

Was updating my website and decided to take a few things from last semester down. It's amazing how much everyone improves each semester, things I was really proud of 5 months ago now look terrible to me. But I take that as a good sign.

This was my first attempt at working modular, it's a prison cell that's been duplicated to form a corridor. The textures here are very very bad (and the repeating ones are from CG Textures), but I still like the model. I may re-texture it and put it back up at some point.

This prison was created  last December, it has 3,339 tris per unit so 18,108 for this scene.

Velociraptor Demo in progress

Been working through a really nice tutorial over on Digital Tutors, texturing a Velociraptor. ( This tutorial) I converted the provided model from SubD's (which I don't know what those are) to polygons just because it was easier for me to work with. This is also the first time I've used Maya's 3D painting to fix seams which worked better than expected, though a little blurred.

And after day one (8 lessons out of 35) this is what iI've got:

Final Lipsynch

Here's the final lipsynch for my Animation class. The line is from Team Fortress 2, one of Merasmus' from the last Scream Fortress.

Final Renders

Man does lighting really change what he looks like.

Textured Gecko

Started texturing for the first time in Mudbox, I'm not sure that I actually like it that much. Maybe if I had all my photoshop brushes and blending modes. So I just did the basic layout in Mudbox and then brought it into Photoshop for the rest of the diffuse texture.

Still not done, I'm gonna bring it back into Mudbox and clean up the seams.

Render Test

A render test of the full scene. Whoever made this lighting rig did a lovely job. I'm digging how the shadows work.
